Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
