Historical Remarks on Convicts
During Bolsonaro’s long time in politics, the far-right former military man showed scant compassion for the country's prison population.
“Why should we give those lowlifes a easy time?” he previously wondered. “They deserve to be messed, end of story. That's my view.”

He must not persist being his self-appointed guard for his lifetime.”
The congressman noted how Bolsonaro supporters, who have for a long time celebrating the tough handling of inmates, had unexpectedly realized to their rights. “Just now has the extreme right – which has repeatedly asserted that basic rights were not for lawbreakers – chosen to visit a prison to learn what circumstances are actually like,” he remarked.
