Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.
Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in beloved television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a message.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
An Extensive TV Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, like:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.
Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
