Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the area, generating strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities verified that different parts across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced power outages after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on the previous day, over 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both areas.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
