Separately, a robust trade exists on messaging services, where groups with thousands of participants share comparison images, injection guides and assertions of rapid UK delivery. Sellers promote the substance there before redirecting buyers to other platforms for purchases.

Understanding Retatrutide

Retatrutide is an investigational injectable developed by American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. The treatment targets three gut hormones – glucagon-like peptide-1, GIP and glucagon. Preliminary studies suggest it could help individuals reduce up to a quarter of their total weight. Nicknamed the “triple G”, the drug is being hailed digitally as the successor to Ozempic.

Medical Experts Express Worries

Nevertheless, physicians and pharmacists have cautions that the sale of what remains an unlicensed drug in the UK is a cause for concern and could lead to users administering products of uncertain source.

Based on TikTok, the service has taken down violative content and prohibited associated keywords and search suggestions. The company stated it was committed to maintaining the platform secure and allocating resources in strengthening enforcement strategies.

Investigations also found groups with up to 9,000 members selling retatrutide using Telegram's integrated discovery tool, which functions like a online catalog. Typing “retatrutide” immediately brings up channels with thousands of members, filled with images of weight loss, glowing testimonials and detailed guides for mixing or administering at residence.

After minutes of joining one group, a seller shared WhatsApp details, where most transactions occur. The vendor provided an instruction manual and promised shipping within 48 hours. When asked whether the product was genuine, one vendor said: “You can’t be sure.” Another provided a image of a supposed laboratory certificate. Not one inquired about body mass, medical conditions or past usage.

Product Details and Pricing

Within these groups, posts show dark colored packages with postal service stickers, claiming to contain new batches. One communication stated: “It took eight of us to load them this morning.”

Buyers can select between dry substance containers, mixed at home with purified liquid, or ready-to-use pens typically priced at £160 for 20 milligrams. When questioned how much time a pen should last, vendors give conflicting answers varying between a few weeks to “depends on your body”.

A representative for the messaging service said it actively monitored dangerous material on its service including material that promoted the “misuse of controlled medications”. The company noted that it removed “millions of pieces of harmful content each day”.
